1 তারপর ইস্রায়েলের সব কটি পরিবারগোষ্ঠী হিব্রোণে দায়ূদের কাছে এল এবং তারা তাঁকে বলল, “দেখুন, আমরা একই পরিবারভুক্ত|
2 এমন কি শৌল যখন আমাদের রাজা ছিলেন, তখনও যুদ্ধে আপনি আমাদের নেতৃত্ব দিয়েছেন এবং আপনিই ইস্রাযেলকে যুদ্ধ থেকে ফিরিযে নিয়ে এসেছেন| এমনকি প্রভু বয়ং আপনাকে বলেছেন ‘তুমিই আমার প্রজা সকলের মেষপালক হবে| তুমিই ইস্রায়েলের শাসনকর্তা হবে|”‘
3 তাই ইস্রায়েলের নেতারা রাজা দায়ূদের সঙ্গে দেখা করতে হিব্রোণে এলেন| রাজা দায়ূদ প্রভুর সামনে, সেই নেতাদের সঙ্গে একটা চুক্তি করলেন| তারপর ঐ নেতারা দায়ূদকে ইস্রায়েলের রাজারূপে অভিষিক্ত করলেন|
4 দায়ূদের যখন 30 বছর বয়স তখন তিনি শাসনকার্য় শুরু করেন এবং 40 বছর ধরে তিনি রাজা হিসেবে বহাল ছিলেন|
5 হিব্রোণে তিনি 7 বছর 6 মাস ধরে যিহূদা শাসন করেন এবং জেরুশালেমে থাকার সময় ইস্রায়েল ও যিহূদাকে 33 বছর শাসন করেন|
6 রাজা দায়ূদ এবং তাঁর অনুচররা, জেরুশালেমে বসবাসকারী যিবূষীয়দের বিরুদ্ধে লড়াই করতে গেলেন| যিবূষীয়রা দায়ূদকে বলল, “তুমি এই শহরে ঢুকতেই পারবে না|আমাদের অন্ধ ও পঙ্গু লোকরাই তোমাকে আটকে দেবে|” (তারা এই কথা বলেছিল কারণ তারা ভেবেছিল দায়ূদ তাদের শহরে ঢুকতে পারবেন না|
7 কিন্তু দায়ূদ সিযোন দুর্গ দখল করলেন| এই দুর্গটি দায়ূদের শহর হল|)
8 সেইদিন দায়ূদ তাঁর সঙ্গীদের বললেন, “যদি তোমরা যিবুষীয়দের হারাতে চাও তবে জলের সুড়ঙ্গপথ দিয়ে সেই সব ‘পঙ্গু ও অন্ধ’ শত্রুদের কাছে পৌঁছে যাও|”এই জন্যে লোক বলে, “অন্ধ ও পঙ্গুরা মন্দিরে ঢুকতে পারে না|”
9 দায়ূদ সেই দুর্গে বাস করতে লাগলেন এবং সেই শহরকে “দায়ূদের শহর” বললেন| দায়ূদ মিল্লো নামে একটি অঞ্চল নির্মাণ করলেন| তিনি শহরের মধ্যে আরও অনেক বাড়ী তৈরী করলেন|
10 দায়ূদ ক্রমশঃই শক্তিশালী হয়ে উঠলেন কারণ সর্বশক্তিমান প্রভু তার সঙ্গে ছিলেন|
11 সোরের রাজা হীরম দায়ূদের কাছে বার্তাবাহক পাঠালেন| হীরম এরস গাছসমূহ, ছুতোর মিস্ত্রীগণ এবং পাথর দিয়ে বাড়ী তৈরীর মিস্ত্রীও পাঠালেন| তারা দায়ূদের জন্য একটা বাড়ী তৈরী করল|
12 তখন দায়ূদ বুঝতে পারলেন, যে প্রভু সত্যিসত্যিই তাঁকে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা করেছেন এবং তাঁর রাজ্যকে (দায়ূদের রাজ্যকে), তাঁর লোকদের, ইস্রায়েলীয়দের জন্য উন্নীত করেছেন|
13 দায়ূদ হিব্রোণ থেকে জেরুশালেমে এলেন| জেরুশালেমে এসে দায়ূদ আরও স্ত্রী এবং দাসী পেলেন| জেরুশালেমে দায়ূদের আরও সন্তানাদি হল|
14 জেরুশালেমে দায়ূদের যে সব পুত্র জন্মেছিল তাদের নাম: সম্মূয, শোবব, নাথন, শলোমন,
15 যিভর ইলীশূয, নেফগ, যাফিয,
16 ইলিয়াদা, ইলীশামা এবং ইলীফেলট|
17 পলেষ্টীয়রা শুনল যে ইস্রায়েলীয়রা দায়ূদকে তাদের রাজারূপে অভিষিক্ত করেছে| সেইজন্য পলেষ্টীয়রা দায়ূদকে হত্যা করবার জন্য খুঁজে বেড়াতে লাগল| দায়ূদ তা জানতে পেরে জেরুশালেমের দুর্গের মধ্যে চলে গেলেন|
18 পলেষ্টীয়রা এসে রফাযীম উপত্যকায তাঁবু গাড়লো|
19 দায়ূদ প্রভুকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “আমি কি পলেষ্টীয়দের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করতে যাব? পলেষ্টীয়দের হারাতে আপনি কি আমায় সাহায্য করবেন?”প্রভু দায়ূদকে উত্তর দিলেন, “হ্যাঁ, পলেষ্টীয়দের হারাতে আমি নিশ্চয়ই তোমাকে সাহায্য করব|”
20 তখন দায়ূদ বাল পরাসীমে গিয়ে সেই জায়গায় পলেষ্টীয়দের পরাজিত করলেন| দায়ূদ বললেন, “প্রভু আমার শত্রুদের ঠিক তেমন ভাবেই ভেদ করলেন যেমন ভাবে বন্যার জল একটি বাঁধের মধ্যে দিয়ে সবলে পথ করে বেরিয়ে যায়|” এই কারণে দায়ূদ এই জায়গার নাম “বাল পরাসীম” রাখলেন|
21 পলেষ্টীয়রা বাল্-পরাসীমে তাদের দেবতাদের মূর্ত্তি ফেলে গিয়েছিল| দায়ূদ এবং তাঁর লোকরা সেইসব মূর্ত্তি নিয়ে গেলেন|
22 পলেষ্টীয়রা আবার এসে রফাযীম উপত্যকায তাঁবু গেড়ে বসল|
23 দায়ূদ প্রভুর কাছে প্রার্থনা করলেন| এবারে প্রভু দায়ূদকে বললেন, “ওখানে যেও না| তুমি ওদের সৈন্যবাহিনীর পিছন দিকে যাও| তুমি বালসাম গাছের উল্টো দিক থেকে ওদের আক্রমণ কর|
24 বালসাম গাছগুলোর ওপর থেকে তোমরা পলেষ্টীয়দের যুদ্ধ ক্ষেত্রে যাবার কুচকাওযাজের শব্দ শুনতে পাবে| সেই সময় তোমরা তাড়াতাড়ি করবে, কারণ সেই সময় তোমাদের জন্য পলেষ্টীয়দের পরাজিত করতে প্রভু তোমাদের সামনে সামনে যাবেন|”
25 প্রভু যা যা করার আদেশ দিলেন, দায়ূদ সেইমত করলেন এবং তিনি পলেষ্টীয়দের হারিযে দিলেন| তিনি গেবা থেকে গেষর পর্য়ন্ত পলেষ্টীয়দের তাড়া করতে করতে এবং হত্যা করতে করতে গেলেন|

2 Also H1571 CONJ in time past H865 , when Saul H7586 was H1961 king H4428 NMS over H5921 PREP us , thou H859 PPRO-2MS wast H1961 he that leddest out H3318 and broughtest H935 in Israel H3478 : and the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS to thee Thou H859 PPRO-2MS shalt feed H7462 my people H5971 Israel H3478 , and thou H859 PPRO-2FS shalt be H1961 VQY3FS a captain H5057 over H5921 PREP Israel H3478 LMS .
3 So all H3605 NMS the elders H2205 of Israel H3478 came H935 W-VQY3MP to H413 PREP the king H4428 D-NMS to Hebron H2275 ; and king H4428 D-NMS David H1732 MMS made H3772 a league H1285 NFS with them in Hebron H2275 B-EFS before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS : and they anointed H4886 David H1732 MMS king H4428 L-CMS over H5921 PREP Israel H3478 LMS .
4 David H1732 MMS was thirty H7970 MMP years H8141 NFS old H1121 when he began to reign H4427 , and he reigned H4427 forty H705 MMP years H8141 NFS .
5 In Hebron H2275 B-EFS he reigned H4427 over H5921 PREP Judah H3063 seven H7651 MFS years H8141 NFP and six H8337 months H2320 : and in Jerusalem H3389 he reigned H4427 thirty H7970 MMP and three H7969 years H8141 NFS over H5921 PREP all H3605 NMS Israel H3478 and Judah H3063 .
6 And the king H4428 D-NMS and his men H376 went H1980 W-VQY3MS to Jerusalem H3389 unto H413 PREP the Jebusites H2983 , the inhabitants H3427 VQPMS of the land H776 D-GFS : which spoke H559 W-VQY3MS unto David H1732 L-NAME , saying H559 W-VQY3MS , Except H518 PART thou take away H5493 the blind H5787 and the lame H6455 , thou shalt not H3808 NADV come in H935 VQY3FS hither H2008 ADV : thinking H559 W-VQY3MS , David H1732 L-NAME cannot H3808 ADV come in H935 VQY3MS hither H2008 .
7 Nevertheless David H1732 MMS took H3920 the stronghold H4686 of Zion H6726 : the same H1931 PPRO-3FS is the city H5892 GFS of David H1732 .
8 And David H1732 MMS said H559 W-VQY3MS on that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 B-AMS , Whosoever H3605 NMS getteth up H5060 to the gutter H6794 , and smiteth H5221 the Jebusites H2983 , and the lame H6455 and the blind H5787 , that are hated H8130 of David H1732 MMS \'s soul H5315 GFS , he shall be chief and captain . Wherefore H5921 PREP they said H559 W-VQY3MS , The blind H5787 and the lame H6455 shall not H3808 NADV come H935 VQY3MS into H413 PREP the house H1004 .
9 So David H1732 MMS dwelt H3427 W-VQY3MS in the fort H4686 , and called H7121 W-VQY3MS it the city H5892 GFS of David H1732 MMS . And David H1732 MMS built H1129 W-VQY3MS round about H5439 ADV from H4480 PREP Millo H4407 and inward H1004 .
10 And David H1732 MMS went on W-VQY3MS , and grew great H1419 W-AMS , and the LORD H3068 W-EDS God H430 CDP of hosts H6635 was with H5973 PREP-3MS him .
11 And Hiram H2438 king H4428 NMS of Tyre H6865 sent H7971 W-VQY3MS messengers H4397 to H413 PREP David H1732 MMS , and cedar H730 trees H6086 , and carpenters H2796 , and masons H2796 : and they built H1129 David H1732 a house H1004 .
12 And David H1732 MMS perceived H3045 W-VQY3MS that H3588 CONJ the LORD H3068 EDS had established H3559 him king H4428 L-CMS over H5921 PREP Israel H3478 , and that H3588 CONJ he had exalted H5375 his kingdom H4467 CFS-3MS for his people H5971 Israel H3478 LMS \'s sake H5668 B-NMS .
13 And David H1732 L-NAME took H3947 W-VQY3MS him more H5750 ADV concubines H6370 and wives H802 out of Jerusalem H3389 , after H310 PREP he was come H935 from Hebron H2275 : and there were yet H5750 ADV sons H1121 NMP and daughters H1323 W-CFP born H3205 W-VNY3MP to David H1732 L-NAME .
14 And these H428 W-PMP be the names H8034 of those that were born H3209 unto him in Jerusalem H3389 ; Shammua H8051 , and Shobab H7727 , and Nathan H5416 , and Solomon H8010 ,
15 Ibhar H2984 also , and Elishua H474 , and Nepheg H5298 , and Japhia H3309 ,
16 And Elishama H476 , and Eliada H450 , and Eliphalet H467 .
17 But when the Philistines H6430 heard H8085 that H3588 CONJ they had anointed H4886 David H1732 MMS king H4428 L-CMS over H5921 PREP Israel H3478 , all H3605 CMS the Philistines H6430 TMS came up H5927 to seek H1245 David H1732 MMS ; and David H1732 MMS heard H8085 of it , and went down H3381 W-VQY3MS to H413 PREP the hold H4686 .
18 The Philistines H6430 also came H935 VQQ3MP and spread themselves H5203 in the valley H6010 B-CMS of Rephaim H7497 .
19 And David H1732 MMS inquired H7592 W-VQY3MS of the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS , saying H559 W-VQY3MS , Shall I go up H5927 to H413 PREP the Philistines H6430 TMS ? wilt thou deliver H5414 them into mine hand H3027 B-CFS-1MS ? And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP David H1732 MMS , Go up H5927 : for H3588 CONJ I will doubtless deliver H5414 the Philistines H6430 into thine hand H3027 .
20 And David H1732 came H935 W-VQY3MS to Baal H1188 - perazim , and David H1732 MMS smote H5221 W-VHY3MS-3MP them there H8033 ADV , and said H559 W-VQY3MS , The LORD H3068 EDS hath broken forth upon H6555 VQQ3MS mine enemies H341 before H6440 L-CMP me , as the breach H6556 K-NMS of waters H4325 NMD . Therefore H5921 PREP he called H7121 VQQ3MS the name H8034 of that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS place H4725 D-NMS Baal H1188 - perazim .
21 And there H8033 ADV they left H5800 their images H6091 , and David H1732 MMS and his men H376 burned H5375 them .
22 And the Philistines H6430 TMS came up H5927 yet H5750 ADV again H3254 , and spread themselves H5203 in the valley H6010 B-CMS of Rephaim H7497 .
23 And when David H1732 MMS inquired H7592 W-VQY3MS of the LORD H3068 , he said H559 W-VQY3MS , Thou shalt not H3808 NADV go up H5927 ; but fetch a compass H5437 behind H310 them , and come H935 W-VQQ2MS upon them over against H4136 the mulberry trees H1057 .
24 And let it be H1961 W-VQI3MS , when thou hearest H8085 the sound H6963 CMS of a going H6807 in the tops H7218 of the mulberry trees H1057 , that then H227 ADV thou shalt bestir H2782 thyself : for H3588 CONJ then H227 ADV shall the LORD H3068 EDS go out H3318 VQQ3MS before H6440 L-CMP-2MS thee , to smite H5221 L-VHFC the host H4264 of the Philistines H6430 .
25 And David H1732 MMS did H6213 W-VQY3MS so H3651 ADV , as H834 K-RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS had commanded H6680 VPQ3MS-3MS him ; and smote H5221 W-VHY3MS the Philistines H6430 TMS from Geba H1387 until thou come H935 to Gazer H1507 .
