Deuteronomy 12:31 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 "These are the laws and rules that you must obey in your new land. You must carefully obey them as long as you live in this land. The Lord is the God of your ancestors, and he is giving this land to you.
2 You will take that land from the nations that live there now. You must completely destroy all the places where the people of these nations worship their gods. These places are on high mountains, on hills, and under green trees.
3 You must smash their altars and break their memorial stones into pieces. You must burn their Asherah poles and cut down the statues of their gods. Wipe out everything that would remind you of those gods.
4 "You must not worship the Lord your God in the same way that these people worship their gods.
5 The Lord your God will choose a special place among your tribes. That will be the home for his name. You must go to that place to worship him.
6 There you must bring your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, one-tenth of your crops and animals, your special gifts, any gifts you promised to him, any special gift you want to give, and the first animals born in your herds and flocks.
7 You and your families will eat together at that place, and the Lord your God will be there with you. You will enjoy sharing the things you worked for there. You will remember that the Lord your God blessed you and gave you these good things.
8 "You must not continue to worship the way we have been worshiping. Until now each of us has been worshiping God any way we wanted.
9 This is because we have not yet entered the peaceful land that the Lord your God is giving you.
10 But you will go across the Jordan River and live in that land. The Lord is giving that land to you. And he will give you rest from all your enemies. You will be safe.
11 Then the Lord your God will choose a place that will be the home for his name. You must bring everything I command you to that place. Bring your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, one-tenth of your crops and animals, your special gifts, and any gifts that you promised to give to the Lord.
12 Come to that place with all your people—your children, all your servants, and the Levites living in your towns. (These Levites will not have a share of the land for their own.) Enjoy yourselves together there with the Lord your God.
13 Be sure you don't offer your burnt offerings in just any place you see.
14 The Lord will choose his special place among your tribes. Offer your burnt offerings and do everything else I told you only in that place.
15 "Whenever you want to eat meat, you can enjoy that blessing from the Lord your God wherever you live. You can butcher the animal just as gazelles and deer, and anyone, clean or unclean, can eat it.
16 But you must not eat the blood. You must pour the blood on the ground like water.
17 "There are some things you must not eat in the places where you live. These things are: the part of your grain that belongs to God, the part of your new wine and oil that belongs to God, the first animals born in your herd or flock, any gift that you promised to God, any special gifts you want to give or any other gifts for God.
18 You must eat these offerings only in his presence at the special place that the Lord your God will choose. You must go there and eat together with your sons, your daughters, all your servants, and the Levites living in your towns. Enjoy yourselves there with the Lord your God. Enjoy what you have worked for.
19 But be sure that you always share these meals with the Levites. Do this as long as you live in your land.
20 "The Lord your God promised to make your country larger. When he does this, you might live too far from the place the Lord your God chooses to be the home for his name. If it is too far, and you are hungry for meat, you may eat any meat you have. You may kill any animal from the herd or flock that he has given you. Do this the way I have commanded you. You may eat this meat there where you live any time you want.

22 You may eat this meat the same as you would eat gazelle or deer meat. Anyone can do this—people who are clean and people who are unclean.
23 But be especially careful not to eat the blood, because the life is in the blood. You must not eat meat that still has its life in it.
24 Don't eat the blood. Pour it out like water onto the ground.
25 So don't eat blood. You must do what the Lord says is right, and good things will happen to you and to your descendants.
26 "If you decide to give something special to God, you must go to the special place that the Lord your God will choose. And if you make a special promise, you must go to that place to give that gift to God.
27 You must offer your burnt offerings in that place. Offer the meat and the blood of your burnt offerings on the altar of the Lord your God. For your other sacrifices, you must pour the blood on the altar of the Lord your God. Then you may eat the meat.
28 Carefully obey all the commands that I give you. When you do what is good and right—what pleases the Lord your God—then everything will go well for you and for your descendants forever.
29 "You are going to take your land from other people. The Lord your God will destroy these people for you. You will force them out of that land, and then you will live there.
30 But be careful that you don't fall into the same trap they did! Don't go to their false gods for help. Don't say to yourself, 'They worshiped these gods, so I will worship them too.'
31 Don't do that to the Lord your God! These people do all kinds of bad things that the Lord hates. They even burn their children as sacrifices to their gods!
32 "You must be careful to do everything I command you. Don't add anything to what I tell you, and don't take anything away.

2 Ye shall utterly destroy H6 all H3605 NMS the places H4725 , wherein H834 RPRO the nations H1471 D-NMP which H834 RPRO ye H859 PPRO-2MS shall possess H3423 served H5647 their gods H430 , upon H5921 PREP the high H7311 mountains H2022 , and upon H5921 PREP the hills H1389 , and under H8478 every H3605 NMS green H7488 tree H6086 NMS :
3 And ye shall overthrow H5422 their altars H4196 , and break H7665 their pillars H4676 , and burn H8313 their groves H842 with fire H784 ; and ye shall hew down H1438 the graven images H6456 of their gods H430 , and destroy H6 the names H8034 CMS-3MP of them out of H4480 PREP that H1931 place H4725 D-NMS .
4 Ye shall not H3808 ADV do H6213 so H3651 ADV unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS your God H430 .
5 But H518 PART unto H413 PREP the place H4725 D-NMS which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 shall choose H977 out of all H3605 M-CMS your tribes H7626 to put H7760 L-VQFC his name H8034 CMS-3MS there H8033 ADV , even unto his habitation H7933 shall ye seek H1875 , and thither H8033 thou shalt come H935 W-VQQ2MS :
6 And thither H8033 ADV-3FS ye shall bring H935 your burnt offerings H5930 , and your sacrifices H2077 , and your tithes H4643 , and heave offerings H8641 of your hand H3027 , and your vows H5088 , and your freewill offerings H5071 , and the firstlings H1062 of your herds H1241 and of your flocks H6629 :
7 And there H8033 ADV ye shall eat H398 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 , and ye shall rejoice H8055 in all H3605 that ye put H4916 your hand H3027 unto , ye H859 PPRO-2MS and your households H1004 , wherein H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 hath blessed H1288 thee .
8 Ye shall not H3808 NADV do H6213 after all H3605 NMS the things that H834 RPRO we H587 PPRO-1MP do H6213 here H6311 ADV this day H3117 D-AMS , every man H376 NMS whatsoever H3605 NMS is right H3477 in his own eyes H5869 B-CMD-3MS .
9 For H3588 CONJ ye are not H3808 NADV as yet H5704 PREP come H935 to H413 PREP the rest H4496 and to H413 PREP the inheritance H5159 , which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 CMP-2MS giveth H5414 VQPMS you .
10 But when ye go over H5674 Jordan H3383 D-EFS , and dwell H3427 in the land H776 B-NFS which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 giveth you to inherit H5157 , and when he giveth you rest H5117 from all H3605 M-CMS your enemies H341 round about H5439 M-ADV , so that ye dwell H3427 in safety H983 ;
11 Then there shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS a place H4725 D-NMS which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 shall choose H977 to cause his name H8034 CMS-3MS to dwell H7931 there H8033 ADV ; thither H8033 ADV-3FS shall ye bring H935 all H3605 NMS that H834 RPRO I H595 PPRO-1MS command H6680 you ; your burnt offerings H5930 , and your sacrifices H2077 , your tithes H4643 , and the heave offering H8641 of your hand H3027 , and all H3605 NMS your choice H4005 vows H5088 which H834 RPRO ye vow H5087 unto the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS :
12 And ye shall rejoice H8055 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 , ye H859 PPRO-2MS , and your sons H1121 , and your daughters H1323 , and your menservants H5650 , and your maidservants H519 , and the Levite H3881 that H834 RPRO is within your gates H8179 ; forasmuch H3588 CONJ as he hath no H369 NPAR part H2506 CMS nor inheritance H5159 with H854 you .
13 Take heed H8104 VNI2MS to thyself that H6435 thou offer H5927 not thy burnt offerings H5930 in every H3605 B-CMS place H4725 NUM-MS that H834 RPRO thou seest H7200 VQY2MS :
14 But H518 PART in the place H4725 which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS shall choose H977 in one H259 of thy tribes H7626 , there H8033 ADV thou shalt offer H5927 thy burnt offerings H5930 , and there H8033 W-ADV thou shalt do H6213 VQY2MS all H3605 NMS that H834 RPRO I H595 PPRO-1MS command H6680 thee .
15 Notwithstanding H7535 ADV thou mayest kill H2076 and eat H398 W-VQQ2MS flesh H1320 NMS in all H3605 B-CMS thy gates H8179 , whatsoever H3605 B-CMS thy soul H5315 lusteth after H185 , according to the blessing H1293 of the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS which H834 RPRO he hath given H5414 thee : the unclean H2931 and the clean H2889 may eat H398 thereof , as of the roebuck H6643 , and as of the hart H354 .
16 Only H7535 ADV ye shall not H3808 NADV eat H398 the blood H1818 ; ye shall pour H8210 it upon H5921 PREP the earth H776 D-GFS as water H4325 KD-NMP .
17 Thou mayest H3201 not H3808 ADV eat H398 L-VQFC within thy gates H8179 the tithe H4643 of thy corn H1715 , or of thy wine H8492 , or of thy oil H3323 , or the firstlings H1062 of thy herds H1241 or of thy flock H6629 , nor any H3605 W-CMS of thy vows H5088 which H834 RPRO thou vowest H5087 , nor thy freewill offerings H5071 , or heave offering H8641 of thine hand H3027 :
18 But H518 PART thou must eat H398 them before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS in the place H4725 which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS shall choose H977 , thou H859 PPRO-2MS , and thy son H1121 , and thy daughter H1323 , and thy manservant H5650 , and thy maidservant H519 , and the Levite H3881 that H834 RPRO is within thy gates H8179 : and thou shalt rejoice H8055 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS in all H3605 that thou puttest H4916 thine hands H3027 unto .
19 Take heed H8104 VNI2MS to thyself that thou forsake not H6435 the Levite H3881 as long as thou livest H3117 CMP-2MS upon H5921 PREP the earth H127 .
20 When H3588 CONJ the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS shall enlarge H7337 thy border H1366 , as H834 K-RPRO he hath promised H1696 VPQ3MS thee , and thou shalt say H559 , I will eat H398 flesh H1320 NMS , because H3588 CONJ thy soul H5315 longeth H183 to eat H398 L-VQFC flesh H1320 NMS ; thou mayest eat H398 VQY2MS flesh H1320 NMS , whatsoever H3605 B-CMS thy soul H5315 lusteth after H185 .
21 If H3588 CONJ the place H4725 D-NMS which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS hath chosen H977 to put H7760 L-VQFC his name H8034 CMS-3MS there H8033 ADV be too far H7368 from H4480 PREP-2MS thee , then thou shalt kill H2076 of thy herd H1241 and of thy flock H6629 , which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS hath given H5414 VQQ3MS thee as H834 RPRO I have commanded H6680 thee , and thou shalt eat H398 in thy gates H8179 whatsoever H3605 thy soul H5315 lusteth after H185 .
22 Even H389 ADV as K-RPRO the roebuck H6643 and the hart H354 is eaten H398 , so H3651 ADV thou shalt eat H398 them : the unclean H2931 and the clean H2889 shall eat H398 of them alike H3162 ADV-3MS .
23 Only H7535 ADV be sure H2388 that thou eat H398 not H1115 L-NPAR the blood H1818 : for H3588 CONJ the blood H1818 is the life H5315 ; and thou mayest not H3808 W-NPAR eat H398 VQY2MS the life H5315 D-NFS with H5973 PREP the flesh H1320 .
24 Thou shalt not H3808 NADV eat H398 it ; thou shalt pour H8210 it upon H5921 PREP the earth H776 D-GFS as water H4325 KD-NMP .
25 Thou shalt not H3808 NADV eat H398 it ; that H4616 L-CONJ it may go well H3190 with thee , and with thy children H1121 after H310 thee , when H3588 CONJ thou shalt do H6213 that which is right H3477 in the sight H5869 B-CMP of the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
26 Only H7535 ADV thy holy things H6944 which H834 RPRO thou hast H1961 VQY3MP , and thy vows H5088 W-CMP-2MS , thou shalt take H5375 VQY2MS , and go H935 W-VQQ2MS unto H413 PREP the place H4725 D-NMS which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS shall choose H977 :
27 And thou shalt offer H6213 thy burnt offerings H5930 , the flesh H1320 D-NMS and the blood H1818 , upon H5921 PREP the altar H4196 of the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS : and the blood H1818 of thy sacrifices H2077 shall be poured out H8210 VNY3MS upon H5921 PREP the altar H4196 of the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS , and thou shalt eat H398 VQY2MS the flesh H1320 .
28 Observe H8104 VQI2MS and hear H8085 all H3605 NMS these H428 D-DPRO-3MP words H1697 AMP which H834 RPRO I H595 PPRO-1MS command H6680 thee , that H4616 L-CONJ it may go well H3190 with thee , and with thy children H1121 after H310 thee forever H5704 PREP , when H3588 CONJ thou doest H6213 that which is good H2896 D-NMS and right H3477 in the sight H5869 B-CMP of the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 .
29 When H3588 CONJ the LORD H3068 EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS shall cut off H3772 the nations H1471 D-NMP from before H6440 M-CMP-2MS thee , whither H834 RPRO thou H859 PPRO-2MS goest H935 to possess H3423 them , and thou succeedest H3423 them , and dwellest H3427 in their land H776 ;
30 Take heed H8104 VNI2MS to thyself that H6435 CONJ thou be not snared H5367 by following H310 them , after that H310 PREP they be destroyed H8045 from before H6440 M-CMP-2MS thee ; and that H6435 CONJ thou inquire H1875 not after their gods H430 , saying H559 L-VQFC , How H349 did these H428 D-DPRO-3MP nations H1471 D-NMP serve H5647 their gods H430 ? even so H3651 ADV will I H589 PPRO-1MS do H6213 likewise H1571 CONJ .
31 Thou shalt not H3808 NADV do H6213 so H3651 ADV unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS thy God H430 CMP-2MS : for H3588 CONJ every H3605 NMS abomination H8441 to the LORD H3068 EDS , which H834 RPRO he hateth H8130 , have they done H6213 VQQ3MP unto their gods H430 CMP-2MS ; for H3588 CONJ even H1571 CONJ their sons H1121 and their daughters H1323 they have burnt H8313 in the fire H784 to their gods H430 CMP-2MS .
32 What thing soever H3605 NMS I H595 PPRO-1MS command H6680 you , observe H8104 to do H6213 L-VQFC it : thou shalt not H3808 NADV add H3254 VHI3FS thereto H5921 PREP-3MS , nor H3808 W-NADV diminish H1639 from H4480 M-PREP-3MS it .
