Numbers 8:1 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 The Lord said to Moses,
2 "Tell Aaron to put the seven lamps in the place I showed you. These lamps will light the area in front of the lampstand."
3 Aaron did this. He put the lamps in the right place so that they lighted the area in front of the lampstand. He obeyed the command that the Lord gave Moses.
4 This is how the lampstand was made: It was made from hammered gold, all the way from the gold base at the bottom to the gold flowers at the top. It looked just like the pattern that the Lord had shown to Moses.
5 The Lord said to Moses,
6 "Separate the Levites from the other Israelites. Make these Levites clean.
7 This is what you should do to make them clean: Sprinkle the special water from the sin offering on them. This water will make them clean. Then they must shave their bodies and wash their clothes. This will make their bodies clean.
8 "They must take a young bull and the grain offering that must be offered with it. This grain offering will be flour mixed with oil. Then take another young bull for a sin offering.
9 Bring the Levites to the area in front of the Meeting Tent. Then bring all the Israelites together at that place.
10 Bring the Levites before the Lord. The Israelites will put their hands on them.
11 Then Aaron will give the Levites to the Lord� they will be like an offering to God. In this way the Levites will be ready to do their special work for the Lord.
12 "Tell the Levites to put their hands on the heads of the bulls. One bull will be a sin offering to the Lord. The other bull will be used as a burnt offering to the Lord. These offerings will make the Levites pure.
13 Tell the Levites to stand in front of Aaron and his sons. Then give the Levites to the Lord. They will be like an offering.
14 This will make the Levites holy. They will be different from the other Israelites. The Levites will belong to me.
15 "So make the Levites pure and give them to the Lord as a special offering. After you do this, they can come and do their work at the Meeting Tent.
16 The Israelites will give me the Levites. They will belong to me. In the past I told every Israelite family to give me their firstborn son. But now I am taking the Levites in place of these firstborn sons from the other families in Israel.
17 Every firstborn in Israel�man or animal�is mine, because I killed all the firstborn children and animals in Egypt. And I chose to take the firstborn sons to belong to me.
18 But now I will take the Levites in their place. I will take the Levites in place of all the firstborn sons from the other families in Israel.
19 I chose the Levites from among all the Israelites. And I give them as gifts to Aaron and his sons. I want them to do the work at the Meeting Tent. They will serve for all the Israelites. They will help make the sacrifices that make the Israelites pure. Then no great sickness or trouble will come to the Israelites when they come near the holy place."
20 So Moses, Aaron, and all the Israelites obeyed the Lord. They did with the Levites everything that the Lord commanded Moses.
21 The Levites washed themselves and their clothes. Then Aaron gave them to the Lord as special offerings. Aaron gave the offerings that covered their sins and made them pure.
22 After that the Levites came to the Meeting Tent to do their work. Aaron and his sons watched them. They were responsible for the work of the Levites. Aaron and his sons did what the Lord commanded Moses.
23 Then the Lord said to Moses,
24 "This is a special command for the Levites: Every Levite man who is 25 years old or older must come and share in the work at the Meeting Tent.
25 But when a man is 50 years old, he will retire from this hard work.
26 Men who are at least 50 years old will be on duty to help their brothers, but they will not do the work themselves. That is what you must do for the Levites so that they can do their duty."

2 Speak H1696 unto H413 Aaron, H175 and say H559 unto H413 him , When thou lightest the lamps, H5216 the seven H7651 lamps H5216 shall give light H215 over against H413 H4136 H6440 the candlestick. H4501
3 And Aaron H175 did H6213 so; H3651 he lighted H5927 the lamps H5216 thereof over against H413 H4136 H6440 the candlestick, H4501 as H834 the LORD H3068 commanded Moses. H4872
4 And this H2088 work H4639 of the candlestick H4501 was of beaten H4749 gold, H2091 unto H5704 the shaft H3409 thereof, unto H5704 the flowers H6525 thereof, was beaten work: H4749 according unto the pattern H4758 which H834 the LORD H3068 had showed H7200 H853 Moses, H4872 so H3651 he made H6213 H853 the candlestick. 5 And the LORD H3068 spoke H1696 unto H413 Moses, H4872 saying, H559
6 Take H3947 H853 the Levites H3881 from among H4480 H8432 the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 and cleanse H2891 them.
7 And thus H3541 shalt thou do H6213 unto them , to cleanse H2891 them: Sprinkle H5137 water H4325 of purifying H2403 upon H5921 them , and let them shave H5674 H8593 H5921 all H3605 their flesh, H1320 and let them wash H3526 their clothes, H899 and so make themselves clean. H2891
8 Then let them take H3947 a young H1121 H1241 bullock H6499 with his meat offering, H4503 even fine flour H5560 mingled H1101 with oil, H8081 and another H8145 young H1121 H1241 bullock H6499 shalt thou take H3947 for a sin offering. H2403
9 And thou shalt bring H7126 H853 the Levites H3881 before H6440 the tabernacle H168 of the congregation: H4150 and thou shalt gather H6950 H853 the whole H3605 assembly H5712 of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 together:
10 And thou shalt bring H7126 H853 the Levites H3881 before H6440 the LORD: H3068 and the children H1121 of Israel H3478 shall put H5564 H853 their hands H3027 upon H5921 the Levites: H3881
11 And Aaron H175 shall offer H5130 H853 the Levites H3881 before H6440 the LORD H3068 for an offering H8573 of H4480 H854 the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 that they may execute H1961 H5647 H853 the service H5656 of the LORD. H3068
12 And the Levites H3881 shall lay H5564 H853 their hands H3027 upon H5921 the heads H7218 of the bullocks: H6499 and thou shalt offer H6213 H853 the one H259 for a sin offering, H2403 and the other H259 for a burnt offering, H5930 unto the LORD, H3068 to make an atonement H3722 for H5921 the Levites. H3881
13 And thou shalt set H5975 H853 the Levites H3881 before H6440 Aaron, H175 and before H6440 his sons, H1121 and offer H5130 them for an offering H8573 unto the LORD. H3068
14 Thus shalt thou separate H914 H853 the Levites H3881 from among H4480 H8432 the children H1121 of Israel: H3478 and the Levites H3881 shall be H1961 mine.
15 And after H310 that H3651 shall the Levites H3881 go in H935 to do the service H5647 H853 of the tabernacle H168 of the congregation: H4150 and thou shalt cleanse H2891 them , and offer H5130 them for an offering. H8573
16 For H3588 they H1992 are wholly given H5414 H5414 unto me from among H4480 H8432 the children H1121 of Israel; H3478 instead of H8478 such as open H6363 every H3605 womb, H7358 even instead of the firstborn H1060 of all H3605 the children H4480 H1121 of Israel, H3478 have I taken H3947 them unto me.
17 For H3588 all H3605 the firstborn H1060 of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 are mine, both man H120 and beast: H929 on the day H3117 that I smote H5221 every H3605 firstborn H1060 in the land H776 of Egypt H4714 I sanctified H6942 them for myself.
18 And I have taken H3947 H853 the Levites H3881 for H8478 all H3605 the firstborn H1060 of the children H1121 of Israel. H3478
19 And I have given H5414 H853 the Levites H3881 as a gift H5414 to Aaron H175 and to his sons H1121 from among H4480 H8432 the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 to do H5647 H853 the service H5656 of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 in the tabernacle H168 of the congregation, H4150 and to make an atonement H3722 for H5921 the children H1121 of Israel: H3478 that there be H1961 no H3808 plague H5063 among the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 when the children H1121 of Israel H3478 come nigh H5066 unto H413 the sanctuary. H6944
20 And Moses, H4872 and Aaron, H175 and all H3605 the congregation H5712 of the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 did H6213 to the Levites H3881 according unto all H3605 that H834 the LORD H3068 commanded H6680 H853 Moses H4872 concerning the Levites, H3881 so H3651 did H6213 the children H1121 of Israel H3478 unto them.
21 And the Levites H3881 were purified, H2398 and they washed H3526 their clothes; H899 and Aaron H175 offered H5130 them as an offering H8573 before H6440 the LORD; H3068 and Aaron H175 made an atonement H3722 for H5921 them to cleanse H2891 them.
22 And after H310 that H3651 went the Levites in H935 H3881 to do H5647 H853 their service H5656 in the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 before H6440 Aaron, H175 and before H6440 his sons: H1121 as H834 the LORD H3068 had commanded H6680 H853 Moses H4872 concerning H5921 the Levites, H3881 so H3651 did H6213 they unto them.
23 And the LORD H3068 spoke H1696 unto H413 Moses, H4872 saying, H559
24 This H2063 is it that H834 belongeth unto the Levites: H3881 from twenty H6242 and five H2568 years H8141 old H4480 H1121 and upward H4605 they shall go in H935 to wait upon H6633 H6635 the service H5656 of the tabernacle H168 of the congregation: H4150
25 And from the age H4480 H1121 of fifty H2572 years H8141 they shall cease waiting upon H7725 H4480 H6635 the service H5656 thereof , and shall serve H5647 no H3808 more: H5750
26 But shall minister H8334 with H854 their brethren H251 in the tabernacle H168 of the congregation, H4150 to keep H8104 the charge, H4931 and shall do H5647 no H3808 service. H5656 Thus H3602 shalt thou do H6213 unto the Levites H3881 touching their charge. H4931
