Isaiah 66:1 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 This is what the Lord says: "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is where I rest my feet. So do you think you can build a house for me? Do I need a place to rest?
2 I am the one who made all things. They are all here because I made them," says the Lord. "These are the people I care for: the poor, humble people who obey my commands.
3 Some people kill bulls as a sacrifice, but they also beat people. They kill sheep as a sacrifice, but they also break the necks of dogs. They offer up grain offerings, but they also offer the blood of pigs. They burn incense, but they also love their disgusting idols. They choose their own ways, and they love their terrible idols.
4 So I decided to use their own tricks. I will punish them using what they are most afraid of. I will do this because I called to them, but they did not answer. I spoke to them, but they did not listen. They did what I said is evil. They chose to do what I did not like."
5 You who obey the Lord's commands, listen to what he says: "Your brothers hated you. They turned against you because you followed me. Your brothers said, 'When the Lord shows his glory, then we will rejoice with you.' But they will be punished."
6 Listen! There is a loud noise coming from the city and from the Temple. It is the Lord punishing his enemies. He is giving them the punishment they deserve.
7 "A woman does not give birth before she feels the pain. A woman must feel the pain of childbirth before she can see the boy she gives birth to. Who ever heard of such a thing? In the same way, no one ever saw a new world begin in one day. No one has ever heard of a new nation that began in one day. But when Zion feels the pain, she will give birth to her children.

9 In the same way, I will not cause pain without allowing something new to be born." The Lord says this: "I promise that if I cause you the pain of birth, I will not stop you from having your new nation." Your God said this.
10 Jerusalem and all her friends, be happy! All of you who were sad for her, be happy and rejoice with her!
11 Be happy that you will receive mercy like milk coming from her breast. Jerusalem's "milk" will satisfy you! You will fully enjoy her glory.
12 This is what the Lord says: "Look, I will give Jerusalem peace that will flow in like a river. Wealth from all the nations will come flowing into her like a flood. And like little babies, you will drink that 'milk.' I will hold you in my arms and bounce you on my knees.
13 I will comfort you like a mother comforting her child. You will be comforted in Jerusalem."
14 When you see these things, you will be happy. You will be free and grow like grass. The Lord's servants will see his power, but his enemies will see his anger.
15 Look, the Lord is coming with fire. His armies are coming with clouds of dust. He is angry, and he will punish his enemies with flames.
16 The Lord will judge the people. Then he will destroy many people with his sword and with fire.
17 These are the people who wash themselves and make themselves pure so that they can go into their special gardens to worship their idols. They follow one another into the gardens to eat meat from pigs, rats, and other dirty things. But they will all be destroyed together.
18 "They have evil thoughts and do evil things, so I am coming to punish them. I will gather all nations and all people. Everyone will be gathered together to see my Glory.
19 I will put a mark on some of the people. I will send some of these saved people to the nations of Tarshish, Libya, Lud (the land of archers ), Tubal, Greece, and all the faraway lands. Those people have never heard my teachings. They have never seen my Glory. So the saved people will tell the nations about my glory.
20 And they will bring all your brothers and sisters from those other nations to my holy mountain, Jerusalem. Your brothers and sisters will ride on horses, mules, camels, and in chariots and wagons. They will be like the gifts that the Israelites bring on clean plates to the Temple of the Lord.
21 I will also choose some of these people to be priests and Levites. " The Lord himself said this.
22 "I will make a new world, new heavens and a new earth, that will last for ever. In the same way, your names and your children will always be with me.
23 Everyone will come to worship me on every worship day; they will come every Sabbath and every first day of the month.
24 "Whoever goes out of the city will see the dead bodies of those who sinned against me. The worms eating those bodies will never die, and the fires burning them will never go out. It will be horrible to anyone who sees it."

3 He that killeth H7819 an ox H7794 is as if he slew H5221 a man; H376 he that sacrificeth H2076 a lamb, H7716 as if he cut off a dog's neck H6202 H3611 ; he that offereth H5927 an oblation, H4503 as if he offered swine's H2386 blood; H1818 he that burneth H2142 incense, H3828 as if he blessed H1288 an idol. 4 I H589 also H1571 will choose H977 their delusions, H8586 and will bring H935 their fears H4035 upon them; because H3282 when I called, H7121 none H369 did answer; H6030 when I spoke, H1696 they did not H3808 hear: H8085 but they did H6213 evil H7451 before mine eyes, H5869 and chose H977 that in which H834 I delighted H2654 not. 5 Hear H8085 the word H1697 of the LORD, H3068 ye that tremble H2730 at H413 his word; H1697 Your brethren H251 that hated H8130 you , that cast you out H5077 for my name's sake H4616 H8034 , said, H559 Let the LORD H3068 be glorified: H3513 but he shall appear H7200 to your joy, H8057 and they H1992 shall be ashamed. 6 A voice H6963 of noise H7588 from the city H4480 H5892 , a voice H6963 from the temple H4480 H1964 , a voice H6963 of the LORD H3068 that rendereth H7999 recompense H1576 to his enemies. H341

12 For H3588 thus H3541 saith H559 the LORD, H3068 Behold, H2009 I will extend H5186 peace H7965 to H413 her like a river, H5104 and the glory H3519 of the Gentiles H1471 like a flowing H7857 stream: H5158 then shall ye suck, H3243 ye shall be borne H5375 upon H5921 her sides, H6654 and be dandled H8173 upon H5921 her knees. 17 They that sanctify themselves, H6942 and purify themselves H2891 in H413 the gardens H1593 behind H310 one H259 tree in the midst, H8432 eating H398 swine's H2386 flesh, H1320 and the abomination, H8263 and the mouse, H5909 shall be consumed H5486 together, H3162 saith H5002 the LORD. H3068
18 For I H595 know their works H4639 and their thoughts: H4284 it shall come, H935 that I will gather H6908 H853 all H3605 nations H1471 and tongues; H3956 and they shall come, H935 and see H7200 H853 my glory. H3519
19 And I will set H7760 a sign H226 among them , and I will send H7971 those that escape H6412 of them H4480 unto H413 the nations, H1471 to Tarshish, H8659 Pul, H6322 and Lud, H3865 that draw H4900 the bow, H7198 to Tubal, H8422 and Javan, H3120 to the isles H339 afar off, H7350 that H834 have not H3808 heard H8085 H853 my fame, H8088 neither H3808 have seen H7200 H853 my glory; H3519 and they shall declare H5046 H853 my glory H3519 among the Gentiles. 20 And they shall bring H935 H853 all H3605 your brethren H251 for an offering H4503 unto the LORD H3068 out of all H4480 H3605 nations H1471 upon horses, H5483 and in chariots, H7393 and in litters, H6632 and upon mules, H6505 and upon swift beasts, H3753 to H5921 my holy H6944 mountain H2022 Jerusalem, H3389 saith H559 the LORD, H3068 as H834 the children H1121 of Israel H3478 bring H935 H853 an offering H4503 in a clean H2889 vessel H3627 into the house H1004 of the LORD. 21 And I will also H1571 take H3947 of H4480 them for priests H3548 and for Levites, H3881 saith H559 the LORD. H3068
22 For H3588 as H834 the new H2319 heavens H8064 and the new H2319 earth, H776 which H834 I H589 will make, H6213 shall remain H5975 before H6440 me, saith H5002 the LORD, H3068 so H3651 shall your seed H2233 and your name H8034 remain. H5975
23 And it shall come to pass, H1961 that from H4480 H1767 one new moon H2320 to another, H2320 and from H4480 H1767 one sabbath H7676 to another, H7676 shall all H3605 flesh H1320 come H935 to worship H7812 before H6440 me, saith H559 the LORD. H3068
24 And they shall go forth, H3318 and look H7200 upon the carcasses H6297 of the men H376 that have transgressed H6586 against me: for H3588 their worm H8438 shall not H3808 die, H4191 neither H3808 shall their fire H784 be quenched; H3518 and they shall be H1961 an abhorring H1860 unto all H3605 flesh.
