Genesis 46:1 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 So Israel began his trip to Egypt. First he went to Beersheba. There he worshiped God, the God of his father Isaac. He offered sacrifices.
2 During the night God spoke to Israel in a dream and said, "Jacob, Jacob." Israel answered, "Here I am."
3 Then God said, "I am God, the God of your father. Don't be afraid to go to Egypt. In Egypt I will make you a great nation.
4 I will go to Egypt with you, and I will bring you out of Egypt again. You will die there, but Joseph will be with you. His own hands will close your eyes when you die."
5 Then Jacob left Beersheba and traveled to Egypt. His sons, the sons of Israel, brought their father, their wives, and all their children to Egypt. They traveled in the wagons the Pharaoh had sent.
6 They also had their cattle and everything they owned in the land of Canaan. So Israel went to Egypt with all his children and his family.
7 With him were his sons and his grandsons, his daughters and his granddaughters. All of his family went with him.
8 Here are the names of Israel's sons and family that went to Egypt with him: Reuben was Jacob's first son.
9 Reuben's sons were Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
10 Simeon's sons were Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, and Zohar. There was also Shaul. (Shaul was born from a Canaanite woman.)
11 Levi's sons were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
12 Judah's sons were Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah. (Er and Onan died while still in Canaan.) Perez's sons were Hezron and Hamul.
13 Issachar's sons were Tola, Puah, Job, and Shimron.
14 Zebulun's sons were Sered, Elon, and Jahleel.
15 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun were Jacob's sons from his wife Leah. Leah had these sons in Paddan Aram. She also had a daughter named Dinah. There were 33 people in this family.
16 Gad's sons were Zephon, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli.
17 Asher's sons were Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, Beriah, and their sister Serah. Also there were Beriah's sons, Heber and Malkiel.
18 All these were Jacob's sons from his wife's servant, Zilpah. (Zilpah was the maid that Laban had given to his daughter Leah.) There were 16 people in this family.
19 Benjamin was also with Jacob. Benjamin was Jacob and Rachel's son. (Joseph was also Rachel's son, but he was already in Egypt.)
20 In Egypt, Joseph had two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim. (Joseph's wife was Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, the priest in the city of On.)
21 Benjamin's sons were Bela, Beker, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard.
22 These were the sons of Jacob from his wife Rachel. There were 14 people in this family.
23 Dan's son was Hushim.
24 Naphtali's sons were Jahziel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem.
25 These were the sons of Jacob and Bilhah. (Bilhah was the maid that Laban had given to his daughter Rachel.) There were seven people in this family.
26 The total number of Jacob's direct descendants who went with him to Egypt was 66 people. (The wives of Jacob's sons were not counted in this number.)
27 Also, there were the two sons of Joseph. They had been born in Egypt. So there was a total of 70 people in Jacob's family in Egypt.
28 Jacob sent Judah ahead to speak to Joseph. Judah went to Joseph in the land of Goshen. Then Jacob and his people followed into the land.
29 Joseph learned that his father was coming. So he prepared his chariot and went out to meet his father, Israel, in Goshen. When Joseph saw his father, he hugged his neck and cried for a long time.
30 Then Israel said to Joseph, "Now I can die in peace. I have seen your face, and I know that you are still alive."
31 Joseph said to his brothers and to the rest of his father's family, "I will go and tell Pharaoh that you are here. I will say to Pharaoh, 'My brothers and the rest of my father's family have left the land of Canaan and have come here to me.
32 They are a family of shepherds. They have always kept sheep and cattle. They have brought all their animals and everything they own with them.'
33 When Pharaoh calls you, he will ask, 'What work do you do?'
34 You tell him, 'We are shepherds. All our lives we have been shepherds, and our ancestors were shepherds before us.' Then Pharaoh will allow you to live in the land of Goshen. Egyptians don't like shepherds, so it is better that you stay in Goshen."

4 I H595 will go down H3381 with H5973 thee into Egypt; H4714 and I H595 will also H1571 surely bring thee up H5927 H5927 again : and Joseph H3130 shall put H7896 his hand H3027 upon H5921 thine eyes. H5869
5 And Jacob H3290 rose up H6965 from Beer H4480 H884 -sheba : and the sons H1121 of Israel H3478 carried H5375 H853 Jacob H3290 their father, H1 and their little ones, H2945 and their wives, H802 in the wagons H5699 which H834 Pharaoh H6547 had sent H7971 to carry H5375 him.
6 And they took H3947 H853 their cattle, H4735 and their goods, H7399 which H834 they had gotten H7408 in the land H776 of Canaan, H3667 and came H935 into Egypt, H4714 Jacob, H3290 and all H3605 his seed H2233 with H854 him:

8 And these H428 are the names H8034 of the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 which came H935 into Egypt, H4714 Jacob H3290 and his sons: H1121 Reuben, H7205 Jacob's H3290 firstborn. H1060
9 And the sons H1121 of Reuben; H7205 Hanoch, H2585 and Phallu, H6396 and Hezron, H2696 and Carmi. H3756

13 And the sons H1121 of Issachar; H3485 Tola, H8439 and Phuvah, H6312 and Job, H3102 and Shimron. H8110
14 And the sons H1121 of Zebulun; H2074 Sered, H5624 and Elon, H356 and Jahleel. H3177
15 These H428 be the sons H1121 of Leah, H3812 which H834 she bore H3205 unto Jacob H3290 in Padan- H6307 aram, with H854 his daughter H1323 Dinah: H1783 all H3605 the souls H5315 of his sons H1121 and his daughters H1323 were thirty H7970 and three. H7969
16 And the sons H1121 of Gad; H1410 Ziphion, H6837 and Haggi, H2291 Shuni, H7764 and Ezbon, H675 Eri, H6179 and Arodi, H722 and Areli. H692
17 And the sons H1121 of Asher; H836 Jimnah, H3232 and Ishuah, H3438 and Isui, H3440 and Beriah, H1283 and Serah H8294 their sister: H269 and the sons H1121 of Beriah; H1283 Heber, H2268 and Malchiel. H4439
18 These H428 are the sons H1121 of Zilpah, H2153 whom H834 Laban H3837 gave H5414 to Leah H3812 his daughter, H1323 and H853 these H428 she bore H3205 unto Jacob, H3290 even sixteen H8337 H6240 souls. H5315
19 The sons H1121 of Rachel H7354 Jacob's H3290 wife; H802 Joseph, H3130 and Benjamin. H1144
20 And unto Joseph H3130 in the land H776 of Egypt H4714 were born H3205 H853 Manasseh H4519 and Ephraim, H669 which H834 Asenath H621 the daughter H1323 of Poti- H6319 pherah priest H3548 of On H204 bore H3205 unto him.
21 And the sons H1121 of Benjamin H1144 were Belah, H1106 and Becher, H1071 and Ashbel, H788 Gera, H1617 and Naaman, H5283 Ehi, H278 and Rosh, H7220 Muppim, H4649 and Huppim, H2650 and Ard. H714
22 These H428 are the sons H1121 of Rachel, H7354 which H834 were born H3205 to Jacob: H3290 all H3605 the souls H5315 were fourteen H702 H6240 .
23 And the sons H1121 of Dan; H1835 Hushim. H2366
24 And the sons H1121 of Naphtali; H5321 Jahzeel, H3183 and Guni, H1476 and Jezer, H3337 and Shillem. H8006

27 And the sons H1121 of Joseph, H3130 which H834 were born H3205 him in Egypt, H4714 were two H8147 souls: H5315 all H3605 the souls H5315 of the house H1004 of Jacob, H3290 which came H935 into Egypt, H4714 were threescore and ten. H7657
28 And he sent H7971 Judah H3063 before H6440 him unto H413 Joseph, H3130 to direct H3384 his face H6440 unto Goshen; H1657 and they came H935 into the land H776 of Goshen. H1657
29 And Joseph H3130 made ready H631 his chariot, H4818 and went up H5927 to meet H7125 Israel H3478 his father, H1 to Goshen, H1657 and presented himself H7200 unto H413 him ; and he fell H5307 on H5921 his neck, H6677 and wept H1058 on H5921 his neck H6677 a good while. H5750
30 And Israel H3478 said H559 unto H413 Joseph, H3130 Now H6471 let me die, H4191 since H310 I have seen H7200 H853 thy face, H6440 because H3588 thou art yet H5750 alive. H2416
31 And Joseph H3130 said H559 unto H413 his brethren, H251 and unto H413 his father's H1 house, H1004 I will go up, H5927 and show H5046 Pharaoh, H6547 and say H559 unto H413 him , My brethren, H251 and my father's H1 house, H1004 which H834 were in the land H776 of Canaan, H3667 are come H935 unto H413 me;
32 And the men H376 are shepherds H7462 H6629 , for H3588 their trade H376 hath been H1961 to feed cattle; H4735 and they have brought H935 their flocks, H6629 and their herds, H1241 and all H3605 that H834 they have.
33 And it shall come to pass, H1961 when H3588 Pharaoh H6547 shall call H7121 you , and shall say, H559 What H4100 is your occupation H4639 ?
34 That ye shall say, H559 Thy servants' H5650 trade H376 hath been H1961 about cattle H4735 from our youth H4480 H5271 even until H5704 now, H6258 both H1571 we, H587 and also H1571 our fathers: H1 that H5668 ye may dwell H3427 in the land H776 of Goshen; H1657 for H3588 every H3605 shepherd H7462 H6629 is an abomination H8441 unto the Egyptians.
