Psalms 49:1 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 To the director: A song from the Korah family. Listen to this, all you nations. Pay attention, all you people on earth.
2 Everyone, rich and poor, listen to me.
3 I have some very wise words for you. My thoughts will give you understanding.
4 I listened to these sayings. And now, with my harp, I will sing and make the hidden meaning clear.
5 Why should I be afraid when trouble comes? There is no need to fear when evil enemies surround me.
6 They think their wealth will protect them. They brag about how rich they are.
7 But no one has enough to buy back a life, and you cannot bribe God.
8 You will never get enough money to pay for your own life.
9 You will never have enough to buy the right to live forever and keep your body out of the grave.
10 Look, the wise die the same as fools and stupid people. They die and leave their wealth to others.
11 The grave will be their new home forever. And how much land they owned will not make any difference.
12 People might be wealthy, but they cannot stay here forever. They will die like the animals.
13 That is what happens to all who trust in themselves and to anyone who accepts their way of life. Selah
14 They are just like sheep, but the grave will be their pen. Death will be their shepherd. When morning comes, the good people will enjoy victory, as the bodies of the proud slowly rot in the grave, far away from their fancy houses.
15 But God will pay the price to save me from the grave. He will take me to be with him. Selah
16 Don't be afraid of people just because they are rich. Don't be afraid of people just because they have big, fancy houses.
17 They will not take anything with them when they die. They will not take their wealth with them.
18 A wealthy man might tell himself how well he has done in life. And other people might praise him.
19 But the time will come for him to die and go to his ancestors. And he will never again see the light of day.
20 Wealthy people don't seem to understand that they will die like the animals.

4 I will incline H5186 mine ear H241 to a parable: H4912 I will open H6605 my dark saying H2420 upon the harp. H3658
5 Wherefore H4100 should I fear H3372 in the days H3117 of evil, H7451 when the iniquity H5771 of my heels H6119 shall compass me about H5437 ?
6 They that trust H982 in H5921 their wealth, H2428 and boast themselves H1984 in the multitude H7230 of their riches; H6239
7 None H3808 of them can by any means H6299 redeem H6299 his brother, H251 nor H3808 give H5414 to God H430 a ransom H3724 for him:
8 (For the redemption H6306 of their soul H5315 is precious, H3365 and it ceaseth H2308 forever: H5769 )
9 That he should still H5750 live H2421 forever, H5331 and not H3808 see H7200 corruption. H7845
10 For H3588 he seeth H7200 that wise men H2450 die, H4191 likewise H3162 the fool H3684 and the brutish person H1198 perish, H6 and leave H5800 their wealth H2428 to others. H312
11 Their inward thought H7130 is, that their houses H1004 shall continue forever, H5769 and their dwelling places H4908 to all generations H1755 H1755 ; they call H712 H5921 their lands H127 after their own names. H8034
12 Nevertheless man H120 being in honor H3366 abideth H3885 not: H1077 he is like H4911 the beasts H929 that perish. H1820
13 This H2088 their way H1870 is their folly: H3689 yet their posterity H310 approve H7521 their sayings. H6310 Selah. H5542
14 Like sheep H6629 they are laid H8371 in the grave; H7585 death H4194 shall feed H7462 on them ; and the upright H3477 shall have dominion H7287 over them in the morning; H1242 and their beauty H6697 shall consume H1086 in the grave H7585 from their dwelling H4480 H2073 .
15 But H389 God H430 will redeem H6299 my soul H5315 from the power H4480 H3027 of the grave: H7585 for H3588 he shall receive H3947 me. Selah. H5542
16 Be not H408 thou afraid H3372 when H3588 one H376 is made rich, H6238 when H3588 the glory H3519 of his house H1004 is increased; H7235
17 For when H3588 he dieth H4194 he shall carry H3947 nothing H3808 H3605 away : his glory H3519 shall not H3808 descend H3381 after H310 him.
18 Though H3588 while he lived H2416 he blessed H1288 his soul: H5315 and men will praise H3034 thee, when H3588 thou doest well H3190 to thyself.

20 Man H120 that is in honor, H3366 and understandeth H995 not, H3808 is like H4911 the beasts H929 that perish. H1820
